The Sweet 16 was sweet indeed. Swish Imperial IPA from Bissell Brothers duked it out with Maine Beer Company’s Mo in a electrifying back and forth battle. Finally, Swish pulled off the victory to advance to the Elite 8.

Maine Madness Beer Tournament Results: ROUND ONE and ROUND TWO and ROUND THREE

The most intense battle by far was between the Maine beer juggernauts Allagash Curieux versus Lunch from Maine Beer Company. These are two of my top five beers in Maine, so it was a heartbreaker to choose one over the other. However, choose I did, and so did the voters. After a tough bout, Allagash Curieux pulled off the victory by only four votes.

Looking ahead, the Elite 8 is laden with Double IPA’s—half of the ballot is made up of these hop bombs. However, there is some diversity with Mockingfish Gose, a Gose aged in tequila barrels from Rising Tide, Farmhouse Pale Ale, a farmhouse ale from Oxbow, and Curieux, a tripel aged in bourbon barrels from Allagash.

The Epiphany versus Dinner battle will be great to watch. Though all of the matchups will exhibit their own thrilling back and forth.

Voting runs until Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Cheers!
